Considerations for
Effective
OEL
IMPLEMENTATION
May 28, 2009 WEBINAR
NOON - 1:30 pm EDT
There has always been a spectrum of understanding about
the purpose of Operator Exposure Limits and how they should be
applied. The range of understanding of OELs and how to
apply them has not moved on significantly in many years.
This webinar will illustrate examples of OEL implementation
from a variety of industries in a spectrum exploring “the good,
the bad and the ugly”. In this webinar you
will learn:
- The factors that influence the effectiveness of OEL
implementation
- What business drivers must be considered
- Why the holistic risk based approach increases the
effectiveness of OEL implementation
- Scenarios that increase the risk of bad control decisions
being made
- Why it is important to make balanced control decisions to
meet multiple drivers e.g. cleanability, operability,
flexibility, GMP, other SHE
- Why it is important to balance potential for exposure via
all relevant routes and other potential “H” risks such as
ergonomics
- The benefits of a multidisciplinary/cross-functional
approach
- Why is it not possible to make good control decisions on
the basis of label/definition/hazard or OEL alone?
- The multiple factors that affect exposure potential and
decisions about how to implement OELS
- Why culture is an important consideration in effective OEL
implementation
- Examples of external influences on risk
management
